Peanut butter trail mix is all the peanut goodness you could want and more. If you know (or are) someone that loves peanut butter, you need to make this happen.

Recipe Overview

Why you’ll love it: Trail mix is a great snack: it’s portable and everyone loves it.

How long it takes: a couple of minutes
Equipment you’ll need: mixing bowl
Servings: 9 cups, about 18 servings

Peanut, peanut butter. Jelly! Anyone else familiar with this little jingle? My kids sing this all the time.

This trail mix recipe doesn’t have jelly but it has LOTS of peanut butter. I’m talking lots of peanut butter! Peanut butter pretzels. Peanut butter M&Ms. Reese’s Pieces. Peanut butter chips. Roasted peanuts.

Oh, and some raisins. Just to break things up a little. Pretend it’s grape jelly.

Dig in — this trail mix has protein. It’s good for you. Yep.

Why You’ll Love Peanut Trail Mix

Super easy to make. Homemade peanut trail mix takes minutes (not even!) to make. All you need is a huge bowl, a big spoon and a few seconds to stir it up.

Portable snack. Trail mix is perfect for travel or a fun on-the-go snack. It’s easy to pack, it isn’t messay, and it will give you a quick hit of energy. Package the trail mix into snack-sized containers and it’s all ready to throw into a beach bag, backpack, or diaper bag on the way to the park/trails/beach/zoo/splash pad.

Perfect lunch box treat. Pack this peanut butter trail mix in snack-sized zip-top bags, all ready for lunch making. That helps for good portion-control, too. Trust me, you’ll need it. Especially if you’re a peanut butter fan. This stuff is addicting in a huge way.

Lots of peanut flavor. Did I mention it tastes amazing? All the peanut butter goodness you could ever want. I PACK IT IN. Peanuts (duh), peanut butter M&M’s, Reese’s Pieces, peanut butter chips, peanut butter filled pretzels, and some raisins to even it all out. What’s a good trail mix without raisins, anyways?

I originally developed thisrecipe for this peanut butter homemade trail mix over at Food Fanatic!

Ingredients used in this recipe

  • Peanut butter baking chips: Like chocolate chips, only peanut butter.
  • Reese’s Pieces: Like peanut butter cups, only in a coated candy form.
  • Peanut butter M&M’s: One of the many M&M varieties you can choose from.
  • Peanut butter filled pretzels: These are mini pretzel sandwiches, with a peanut butter filling. I buy Snyder’s.
  • Golden raisins: You could substitute regular raisins or dried cranberries, if you like.
  • Peanuts: I like dry roasted peanuts for trail mix. Honey roasted peanuts are good, too.
